March: Fiction Pick
This book was a finalist for the Man Booker Prize. It’s about a family who thought that the little house that they built in Elmet, a corner of Yorkshire, ensured that their life was peaceful and they could be self sufficient. The father sometimes disappeared , doing brutal things for money, but to the children he was their gentle protector. Written in the voice of one of the children, a catastrophic event has happened. Read this well written, sensitive book to find out what happened.
