Women’s History

The Northeast Harbor Library is looking for women’s clothing and accessories from the past 200 years to exhibit in March 2020. We are going decade by decade, filling in the exhibit. If you have items that suit, please contact Kate Young at 207 276 3333 or kyoung@nehlibrary.org

Important Information
  • Items will be mounted to foam panels with pins, except for items that cannot be pinned, such as shoes. If you do not want your item to be pinned, please let us know and we will find another way to display it.
  • The exhibit will be on display during March 2020; you should deliver your item to the library before Friday, February 28th. Items can be picked up after Tuesday, March 31st.
  • The more information we have about your item the better – who wore it, how it has passed through your family, how it was made, etc.

The Northeast Harbor library is a participant in the Women’s History Project, a collaboration between MDI libraries during women’s history month. During the month of March the Bass Harbor Memorial Library, Jesup Memorial Library, Northeast Harbor Library, and the Southwest Harbor Public Library all host exhibits featuring work by local women. These exhibits are open to all women and girls, no need to be an artist to participate! If you would like to exhibit original art work at the Northeast Harbor Library during March, please contact Kate Young (see information above.)
