Building and Grounds Coordinator (Part time)

Duties

  • Oversee maintenance of the library grounds and building exterior, with some assistance from other staff as needed.
  • Perform regular lawn mowing and snow removal as needed.
  • Water indoor plants and maintain outdoor landscaping.
  • Perform regular safety checks of the building, including the elevator.
  • Work with the library director to coordinate building repair jobs and request bids from contractors.
  • Perform minor building repairs as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with the library director about building improvement needs and larger repair, maintenance or cleaning jobs that may require hiring a contractor.
  • Coordinate freight shipments and pickups
  • Manage library trash and recycling.
  • Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and notify the library director when more supplies are needed.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for library events as needed.
  • Perform cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate twice yearly carpet cleaning.
  • Check and stock bathroom supplies regularly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a year round 15 hour per week position with paid leave accrual based on hours worked. Most work to be accomplished at the Northeast Harbor Library. The weekly schedule is flexible, but occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Starting pay range is $26-$28 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

The building and grounds coordinator is an at-will position operating under the direction of the library director. Prior experience with building maintenance and cleaning work is preferred. Physical requirements for this position include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and prolonged periods standing.
