Teacher Shannon Westphal and the students at Mount Desert Elementary School have been busy this year!
“This year has been extremely exciting in the art room. We have been experimenting with a variety of media and art techniques throughout the grade levels. We have also been learning about some great contemporary and historical artists. Our main focus is always visual literacy and how humans use visual expression to communicate and work through new ideas. Enjoy the show!” – Art Teacher, Shannon Westphal
This diverse showcase of student work explores concepts such as composition, abstraction, scale, observation, texture, and reflection, the work of artists and art movements like Matisse, Degas, Van Gogh, Fauvism, and Post-Imressionism, and different art mediums and practices such as printmaking, figure drawing, painting, and clay. It will be up the entire month of January in the Mellon Room of the Northeast Harbor Library. This room is occasionally booked for private use; please call ahead if you’re making special arrangements to come see the show.
There will be a celebratory reception on January 29th from 3:30 – 4:30.
