This exhibit is a selection of work going back over many years. Using silk and dyes came out of my love of the tactile and the colorful.
Silk floats and shines, throwing off or absorbing the light. It can fold, or crumple, into pocket sized artwork.
Color vibrates. Catches our eyes in the landscape. Distracts from the hardships, and brightens moods.
These paintings, collages and free-form works, feature vibrant hand dyed silks, used in combination with papers, thread, mixed materials, paint and ink.
It is fun to look back …. and interesting to think beyond to what could be.
Before and Beyond will be on display in the library’s Mellon Room from August 1st – 31st. The exhibit is viewable during the library’s operating hours, however, the room is occasionally booked for private use or reserved for events.
