Library of Things

Did you know that the Northeast Harbor Library loans out objects like telescopes, CD players, board games, and sports equipment? We’re excited to continue expanding our “library of things” collection!

You must have a Northeast Harbor Library account in good standing to borrow Things. Some Things are not available to patrons under 18 and require a signed waiver to be signed.

[MDES student and teacher accounts, temporary accounts]

By borrowing Things, you are assuming responsibility for it and agree to our Library of Things Borrowing and Use agreement. Just like other library items, you may be billed for reasonable repair or replacement costs due to neglect or abuse.

See our catalog below, browse the binder of things available at the circulation desk or browse our collection in Minerva.

You may place holds on Things through Minerva or by contacting the library; you will be notified when the Thing you have reserved is available. Things can be picked up at the circulation desk.

To check out a thing that is available, bring it to the circulation desk.

[What is the circulation period for things?? Not beholden to Minerva rules, any exceptions?] Things can be borrowed for 3 weeks and have 1 renewal if no one is waiting for the Thing. We can grant additional renewals on a case by case basis.

All Things must be returned directly to our main lending desk; do not return Things to our book drop.
