Mount Desert Elementary School Library
School Librarian: Lauren White

Northeast Harbor Library serves as the school library for Mount Desert Elementary School, located across the street. Students in Pre-K through 8th grade visit the library weekly to read, use the maker space, and check out books.

All students at MDES have a school library account. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade may check out from the children’s room only, and students in grade 6th through 8th may check out from the Young Adult area and children’s room. Children with a personal account (one that their parent/guardian has signed off on) may check out from other sections of the library outside of school hours.

While we don’t have a set limit on the number of books students may have checked out on their account, we work individually with students to decide on an appropriate amount. All parents will receive login information for their student’s library account in the parent letter sent out at the beginning of the year. If you need the information sent to you again, please email lauren.white@mdirss.org. We will also send emails to parents periodically to let them know what is checked out on student accounts.
