This August, the Mellon Room at the Northeast Harbor Library will showcase the work of fifteen artists from ArtWaves Community Arts Center. The exhibit celebrates the diverse voices, visions, and creative processes of local artists inspired by the beauty and character of our surroundings.
Featured artists include Bonnie Chase, Roger Brignull, Katherine Noble Churchill, Brian Caine, Trisha Roths, Joan Vienot, Terre Lefferts, Anne Haynes, Liz Cutler, Meagan Borsare, Sally Littlefield, Kelly Cutler, Laura Naomi, Vicky Smith, Lynn Zaman, Autumn Smith, Gloria Avner, and John Jacobson.
Working in a wide variety of media including copper, pastel and stained glass, each artist brings a unique perspective. Some research their subjects before translating it into representative depictions. Others respond intuitively to the landscape, light, and textures of Mount Desert Island, expressing their ideas through painting, fiber, mixed media, photography, and other art forms. Together, the exhibition reflects the many ways creativity flourishes within our community.
ArtWaves Community Arts Center encourages artists to explore new materials, develop their skills, and discover fresh ways of seeing the world. This exhibit is a celebration of that spirit of curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Everyone is invited to a festive reception on Friday, August 14, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Northeast Harbor Library.
Meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, celebrate the creativity of your island community and wouldn’t it be wonderful to support the artists by choosing a piece that speaks to you. There is nothing like living with original art!
This exhibit is available to view in the Mellon Room during the library’s operating hours during the month of August. Occasionally, the Mellon room is booked for private use, if you are making a special trip to see the exhibit, please call ahead to check availability at 207 276 3333.
