This February artist Mary Ternus will display works from two series, “Monumental Landscapes” and “Women Erased” in the Mellon Room of the Northeast Harbor Library.
Monumental Images: Look close. Look closer. Put the vast and intricate majesties of our world and galaxies beyond our imagination into manageable form and… Well, that’s the goal with these monumental paintings.
Women Erased: In this ongoing project, I honor the women whose contributions went unrecognized. Maybe you know some unsung women, maybe you are one? If you have names of remarkable women who should be recognized, I’d love to have their names. Please be part of this project, contact me at my information below.
Mary is a classically-trained artist specializing in portraits, landscapes and still life subjects. She has a BA in Art History from American University in Paris, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, École des Arts-Décoratifs and the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. She also holds an MA with Distinction in Digital Media from London Metropolitan University. She is a lifetime member of the Art Students League of New York, has taught and created artwork in London, New York, Costa Rica, Paris, Munich, San Diego, and now is happy to call Maine home. Her mentors and influences include Sebastian Capella, Max Ginsburg, Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, and Vladimir Volegov. She teaches, does commissioned painting and drawing in a variety of media, and creates artwork in her studios in Bar Harbor and Belfast, Maine. You can contact Mary via her website, maryternus.com
This exhibit is available to view in the Mellon Room during the library’s operating hours during the month of February. Occasionally, the Mellon room is booked for private use, if you are making a special trip to see the exhibit, please call ahead to check availability at 207 276 3333. Some work will be for sale; a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library.
