January Exhibit: Laura Markey

Laura Markey is a mixed media artist and Massachusetts native. After moving to Maine over six
years ago, she has focused her art on the beautiful landscapes of this area. Her artwork
includes whimsy, 3D elements, geometric shapes and bold graphic lines. Inspired by the
psychedelic art from the 60s, as well as comic books, her pieces show you the geometry and
whimsical elements of what would otherwise be an ordinary scene of nature. Laura assists you
in seeing beyond what it is directly in front of you. You may have seen Laura’s work displayed
previously at the Blue Hill library or featured in the Ellsworth American.


There will be an exhibit reception from 12-3 at the library on Saturday, January 10th. All are
welcome.


This exhibit is available to view in the Mellon Room during the library’s operating hours during
the month of January. Some work is for sale; sales benefit the library. Occasionally, the Mellon room is booked for private use, if you are making a special trip to see the exhibit, please call ahead to check availability at 207 276 3333.
